ENTUITY DELIVERS UNRIVALED VISIBILITY, MANAGEMENT, AND CONTROL OVER NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE WITH EYE OF THE STORM RELEASE 3.0
Combines fast deployment
with advanced network intelligence and easy integration
Fluor Corporation Uses Eye of the Storm to Help Streamline
Core IT Processes
NEW YORK, NY May 6, 2003 - Entuity, Inc., a leading infrastructure management
software provider, today announced the immediate availability
of the newest version of Entuity software, Eye of the
Storm. Eye of the Storm Version 3.0 is an enterprise-level,
network management software solution that automatically
discovers an entire network infrastructure, finds underutilized
assets, and correlates the information within context
of the network so assets can quickly be redeployed and
adapted to changing business requirements.
Key features in this release include
a real-time, dynamically updating, 3-D map with views
of the physical and logical connection between layer
two and three network elements, so asset relationships
can be easily interpreted; the management of server
and application availability; advanced report management,
and the enablement of personalized dashboard capabilities,
whereby complex data types like ATM, frame relay and
leased line resource information can be viewed with
other network information for a real-time and historical
look at the network.
Fluor has a corporate edict
to access computing resources as we need to in order
to support our growing businesses, said Ray
Barnard, chief information officer, Fluor Corporation.
Products like Eye of the Storm are helping us
align our IT resources so we more effectively use
IT to support business transformation. Eye of the
Storm is a cohesive, user-friendly product that is
helping us manage the complexity of our network, while
reducing costs.
"As IT organizations strive to
consolidate operations and streamline their execution,
strong infrastructure and service autodiscovery is
necessary for operational automation, said Glenn
O'Donnell, program director at META Group, Inc. "Automated
discovery tools are not new, but the next evolutionary
step is to broaden such discovery beyond simple collections
of components.
ODonnell added, The relationships
between these components are critical to achieving
comprehensive inventory visibility, including both
the infrastructure and the services they support.
These relationships provide the context that improves
data and event correlation and they supply accurate
configuration information for other operational processes,
like asset, capacity, and incident management.
Entuity Eye of the Storm version 3.0 provides enterprise
IT with a powerful new solution for managing infrastructure
change, better utilizing network assets, and harnessing
stranded capacity.

Additional Product Information
- Version 3.0 Feature Highlights
Entuity Asset Navigator:
Topology map allows the graphical visualisation of
the IT infrastructure physically, logically or by
business view. The system enables users to generate
a hard copy output of the IT infrastructure or business
view by exporting the topology information into Microsoft
Visio.
- Physical connectivity
of the IT infrastructure
Navigator displays the Layer 2 and Layer 3 physical
connectivity of the network inventory including
routers, switches, hubs, ports and servers. The
status of each individual element is updated in
real time then displayed.
- Logical connectivity
of the IT infrastructure
Navigator automatically determines the connectivity
between views using the physical topological knowledge
to connect and display the links. Users can create
or use existing views based on geography, business
function or technical criteria. The status of the
view is propagated through the hierarchy of objects
i.e. routers, switches, ports, VLANs, applications
and servers. The root cause state is displayed when
a problem is identified.
- Representing
the IT Resource infrastructure
Navigator displays the state and connectivity between
the application (e.g. HTTP, FTP etc), server, and
switch port of the connected device. Navigator can
determine which server the application resides on
and the root cause of its state.
Extensible: The StormWorks architecture is flexible to meet user
needs.
- t can be configured
for user-defined data gathering, object modeling
and time series data storage, so it can be viewed
with other network information to give you both
a real-time and historical look at your network.
- Enables personalised
infrastructure dashboards/API: Real-time infrastructure
data can be incorporated into Web pages, documents
and spreadsheets using the Eye of the Storm API.
- Visio integration:
Right-click functionality from Entuity Asset Navigator
to a CSV file for importing directly into Visio.
- Open trap receiver:
Allows Eye of the Storm to accept traps from third-party applications
and associates those traps with events to display
in the Bulletin Board function.
Reporting: The Eye of the Storm
reporting structure features an extensive set of new
reports that can be modified to suit your particular
business needs.
- Key Performance
Indices reports: The Key Performance Indices (KPI)
reports give an executive summary, baseline variance,
trend and TopN for any of the
following values on a view basis, including: interface
utilization, fault SDI and congestion service degradation
index (SDI), device availability, CPU and utilization.
User defined thresholds can be set for the KPI range
and TopN values, and reports can be generated on
demand. All KPI data is accessible using the Component
Viewer.
- Inventory Change
Management reports: Inventory change reports list
all the additions, deletions and modifications made
over a specified timeframe within all or part of
the controlled network. Change reporting is based
on the network device, module, ATM, Frame Relay
and leased line inventory.
- On-demand reporting:
The ability to generate a scheduled report at any
time providing a roll-up stream is available for
the data being displayed in the report. All scheduled
reports can be configured to run on demand, although
the data must be available.
Troubleshooting and Alarms:
Provides the ability to identify problem areas in
the network quickly and easily. You can incorporate
historical statistics, use Eye of the Storm's attribute graphic
to verify information, and call up the system's ticker
to review stats on a minute-by-minute basis.
