ENTUITY RELEASES EYE OF THE STORM 4.0 NETWORK MANAGEMENT SUITE
EYE is Opened for Partners While Adding Functionality for Customers
NEW YORK, NY & LONDON, UK June 13, 2005 Entuity Inc.T, today announced the release of Eye of the StormT (EYE) Version 4.0, its comprehensive network management suite incorporating fault, performance, and inventory management in a single integrated solution. IT staff challenged with VoIP rollout initiatives and management vendors looking to complete end-to-end solution offerings will both benefit from added functionality in the latest version.
Market dynamics and new technologies are driving companies to examine how business service management can impact their organizations, how to prioritize initiatives, and how to judge their success. To meet this need, Entuity has enhanced EYE's superior reporting capabilities in both built-in and user-customizable reporting, giving visibility into the integrated fault, performance, and inventory database. For organizations implementing VoIP, EYE 4.0 now includes integration to Cisco Systems' CallManager (CCM) VoIP management solution. The release contains numerous other enhancements, including support for IBM's BladeCenter, an important new part of IBM's server offerings.
To easily facilitate integration with other frameworks and applications such as systems management, application management, and configuration management, the architecture of the product has been opened via an Open Modeling Framework. The EYE management console can also be seamlessly launched from within another application when the user wishes to drill down on an event sent to that application from EYE. This "single pane of glass" integration with other management solutions aids ease-of-use and support.
"With version 4.0 of Eye of the Storm, Entuity enters a new phase for our product and company," said Gerry O'Connell, president and CEO of Entuity. "The mark of a product's maturity is its ability to easily integrate with third-party applications, and the new Open Modeling Framework is our answer to this need. Furthermore, with the advent of new technologies such as VoIP and Web services based applications, network traffic has increased dramatically. Effective network management is a requirement to ensure that true business benefits have been realized and that investments have been made wisely."
Cisco Call Manager Support
EYE 4.0 includes a new module adding support for Cisco CallManager, the call-processing component of the Cisco IP Telephony solution. Integration of EYE with CCM makes it a powerful aid during VoIP implementations - from up-front due diligence of current and required network bandwidth, to monitoring of performance during deployment, and holistic network management and optimization, post-deployment. Integration of EYE with CCM includes managing and reporting the status and history of device pools, VoIP-oriented devices, overall CCM status, and CCM process monitoring. EYE's Cisco Service Assurance Agent (SAA) module has also been enhanced with event support to provide greater visibility into the performance of the VoIP network.
Support for IBM BladeCenter
In EYE 4.0, IBM BladeCenters are discovered, and a complete set of inventory details are populated into EYE. Chassis configuration, events generated against power supplies, ventilation, and temperature readings are monitored. Full fault, performance, and inventory management of this new model is provided through the Entuity's Open Modeling Framework.
Enhanced Reporting
Other major enhancements to EYE are found in its reporting capabilities. EYE's built-in Essential and user-definable Flex Reports have been key to the value customers derive from the product, as these features provide users with the ability to run in-depth planned or ad-hoc customizable reports for trend analysis and informed management of network resources. In version 4.0, a new Port Availability Report has been added to detail both availability and reachability for managed ports. Automated delivery by e-mail is now available for all Essential and Flex Reports, greatly empowering and easing administrative tasks.
"We rely on Eye of the Storm to run our business network, and selected it because it provides complete management and superior reporting in a single application," said Bob Odenheimer, Senior Vice President of IT Operations at Magellan Health Services. "Using Eye of the Storm's Flex Reporting capability, we intend to publish up-to-the-minute network availability reports to the corporate intranet as a 'report card' externally viewable by roughly 35 internal sites," he continued. Magellan Health Services is a market-leading Fortune 1000 healthcare provider serving over 55 million members.
EYE 4.0 is currently in beta test at a number of Entuity customers and partners, including Clifford Chance, IBM Germany, Intel, Man Financial, Morgan Stanley, and the University of Minnesota. EYE 4.0 will be available at the end of June, and runs on Microsoft Windows 2003, Sun Solaris, and RedHat Linux environments.
Entuity will be demonstrating EYE 4.0 in booth 1807 at the Security Industry Association's Technology Management Conference, June 21-23, 2005 in New York City.
